What is Intune?

Microsoft Intune is Franklin County’s Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution for Corporate devices. Intune manages user access by simplifying application and device management across mobile devices to protect organizational information and data. Countywide configurations and policies ensure mobile threats are reduced and devices remain compliant in our environment.

Why is it best practice to use a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution?

Threats to security are ever-present in our evolving technological ecosystem. We use our mobile devices to communicate, to take photos, and check in on critical work tasks. If a device is lost, stolen, or hacked, this can threaten the security of Franklin County. Having a MDM solution streamlines the management of devices to keep them secure and also ensure your work information is protected.

What happens when I enroll in Intune?

Your device will download a certificate and a MDM Profile. The device has configurations and settings to report data back to Intune to check the device for compliance. Intune is enabled to push applications to your device and to configure/protect those applications as well.

What if I cannot find an application?

As a part of Intune, we have created an Application Library that houses all business-critical applications.

  • Baseline Applications are available to all users (e.g. Teams, Microsoft Word)

  • Required Applications will automatically install upon the enrollment of Intune (e.g. Outlook).

  • Optional Applications will be made available in the Application Library once Intune is installed (e.g. Managed Google Play Store for Android, Company Portal Apps for iOS).

If you cannot find an application for download within the Managed Google Play Store or the Company Portal, then we kindly request that you submit an application request.
