Turn on and setup iPhones for non project cooper devices

Learn how to activate your new Apple® iPhone® by following these steps.

This article is for devices not yet enrolled into Intune or Project Cooper.

Please refer to for device that have been enrolled.

Prepare for setup

To make setup as smooth as possible, have the following items available:

  • An internet connection through a Wi-Fi network.

    • You will need the password for this network.

  • You will be asked to create an Apple ID during setup.

    • You will need to have a @co.franklin.oh.us email alias.

Turn on and set up your iPhone

  1. Press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears.

    1. If iPhone doesn’t turn on, you might need to charge your phone before setup.

  2. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to choose a language then tap the country or region.

  3. Tap Set Up Manually.

  4. Tap the Wi-Fi network; enter the Wi-Fi password, then tap Join (upper-right).

    1. Allow a few moments for the activation process to complete.

  5. The next page will take some time to load and then show your cellular number has been activated.

    1. Make note of the phone number you are given and then Tap Continue.

  6. From the Data & Privacy screen, tap Continue.

  7. When prompted to set up Face ID or Touch ID, tap Continue then follow the on-screen prompts.

  8. Create a passcode, then re-enter the passcode to confirm.

  9. From the Apps & Data screen, tap Don’t Transfer Apps & Data.

Creating Your Apple ID

  1. On The Apple ID Screen, tap Forgot Password or don’t have an Apple ID?

  2. On next screen select Create a Free Apple ID.

  3. On the Name and Birthday screen, enter your name and birthday.

  4. On the E-mail Address screen select Use existing email address, enter the start of your county email + @co.franklin.oh.us

    1. Example : John A Smith would use John.Smith@co.franklin.oh.us or jasmith@co.franklin.oh.us to create an Apple account.

  5. On the Apple ID Password screen, choose a password that you can remember for your Apple ID password.

  6. On the Phone Number screen enter the phone number of the device.

    1. Select if you want it to call or text you with the verification code.

    2. Enter the code they send to your personal phone.

    3. On Terms and Conditions screen, select Agree.

      1. *This will be used for authenticating if you are ever locked out of your Apple ID

Continuing set-up of your iPhone

  1. On the Keep You iPhone Up to Date screen, select Continue.

  2. On the location Services screen, Select Enable Location Services.

  3. On Apple Pay screen select Set Up Later in Wallet.

  4. On Siri Screen choose your preference.

  5. On Screen Time screen Select Set Up Later in Settings.

  6. On iPhone Analytics screen select Do Not Share.

  7. On Appearance Screen & Display Zoom screen select your preference.

  8. On Emergency SOS screen select Continue.

  9. You should now get a Welcome to iPhone screen.

    1. Swipe up to access your new iPhone, setup is complete.

During setup, if you’re blind or have low vision, you can triple-click the side button (on an iPhone with Face ID) or triple-click the Home button (on other iPhone models) to turn on Voice Over, the screen reader. You can also double-tap the screen with three fingers to turn on Zoom.

 

After Setting up your iPhone you will need to go HERE to complete Intune Enrollment.
