Reset your Password with SailPoint

Introduction

According to Franklin County security policies, we all have to change our passwords on a regular basis, to prevent old passwords – that might be stolen in online hacking events – from being used to access our accounts illegally. To make changing passwords easier, we have a system called SailPoint that allows everyone to change their own passwords from anywhere on any device.

Instructions on how to use our self-service password reset system are provided below.

When you change your password in SailPoint, you are changing your Domain / Windows / Network password – they are all the same thing. So any applications that use your Windows login for authentication will also need your new password.

PRO TIP: Password changes can be disruptive to your day. We recommend you change your password during a period when you have time – up to an hour – to update your smartphone apps, your Outlook and OneDrive logins, and other apps with saved passwords. And be prepared for additional password prompts for the next 24 hours.

[1] To reset your password, open a web browser and go to:

https://iam.franklincountyohio.gov/passwordreset

 

Alternatively, you can choose to Unlock account if your account has been locked out

[2] Enter your normal Windows username and click Continue

(this will not be your email address, it will be your username that you use to login to your computer. For instance if you are Justin L Smith your username is jlsmith not justin.smith@franklincountyohio.gov)

[3] To complete the password reset, you have to prove you are who you say you are with a two-step multi-factor authentication. Choose your alternative authentication method from the list provided. Depending on your choice, you will receive a verification code.

This is the first of two multi-factor authentication steps.

[4] Enter the verification code you received and select Continue

[5] After you’ve completed the first authentication, select your preferred second authentication option and click Continue

[6] Enter the verification code you received and select Continue

[7] Enter your new password twice and click Change password when ready

Once the password is changed, you’ll get a success screen (below) as well as a confirmation email.

You are now ready to use your new password!
