CyberArk Add Account to Personal or Shared Safe Instructions

Add an Account to Your Personal or Shared Safes

One advantage of having a personal safe or a team shared safe in CyberArk is that they can be used to keep track of your accounts to various apps and resources, such as web apps. This would be similar to keeping track of your usernames and passwords in Keeper, only this one is stored on premise at FCDC.

Please note: These accounts will not be managed by CyberArk, but will simply be placed here for safe-keeping and password retrieval as needed.

The first step is to login to CyberArk with your regular network login so that you see your dashboard. Then click on the “Add Account” button.

Then choose “Windows” system type (even if it is not a Windows account—your safe is here).

Then choose “Windows Domain Account” type (again, even if it is not a Windows account—your safe is here) and click “Next”.

This will take you to the Safes to which you have access. Choose your personal safe (it includes your regular username in the title ) or your team’s shared safe here

This will take you to the account properties screen where you can add the following 5 required fields, and then click the “Add” button.

  1. The URL or other descriptor for the site or app.

  2. Your username for the site or app—whatever it is.

  3. Your current password.

  4. Your current password again.

  5. Turn “OFF” automatic password management.

In addition, we have added a couple of new fields, URL and Notes that can be used for long URLs as a full record of the URL when it does not fit in the required “Address” field above, or other Notes with information that you want to keep for the account.

Your new account that you added into your personal safe will now be displayed on your Dashboard with two symbols, the first one being the thunderbolt which simply means it is a new account.

The second symbol means that CyberArk will NOT manage the password for this account since you simply want CyberArk to store the account information for you.

And finally, you can retrieve the password you entered any time by clicking on the ellipses (…) beside the account and choosing “Show”.

And the password will display for you to copy to your clipboard for use in logging into your site or app.
