Introduction
According to Franklin County security policies, accounts will be locked due to too many incorrect password attempts in a short period of time. To make unlocking your account easier, we have a system called Ping that allows everyone to unlock their accounts from anywhere on any device.
Instructions on how to use Self-Service Account Recovery are provided below.
When you unlock your account in Ping, you are unlocking your Domain / Windows / Network password – they are all the same thing.
Instructions
Open a web browser and navigate to: https://connection.franklincountyohio.gov:9031/ext/pwdreset/Identify?AdapterId=PassRecPingID
Alternatively, when accessing an application, you can also click Trouble Signing On? at the bottom of the Sign On prompt
Enter your username at the Account Recovery prompt
Click Send Request button
Follow the corresponding directions as appropriate for your account’s authentication setup:
MFA | SMS | VOICE |
---|---|---|
Respond “yes” to the Ping MFA prompt on your device. | Check your text messages for a passcode and enter that passcode into the Authentication prompt. | Check your voicemail for a passcode and enter that passcode into the Authentication prompt. |
When the Unlock Your Account appears, your account is unlocked and you may proceed to use your current password to login
Alternatively, you may also click the Reset Password button to change your password
PRO TIP: Password changes can be disruptive to your day. We recommend you change your password during a period when you have time – up to an hour – to update your smartphone apps, your Outlook and OneDrive logins, and other apps with saved passwords. And be prepared for additional password prompts for the next 24 hours.
Enter your new password and confirm that new password
Click Reset button
You are now ready to use your new password!
After a Windows password change, you will likely have to update your password in smartphone and tablet apps, sign in again in Outlook or OneDrive, or update passwords in other applications.
