Introduction

Franklin County employees with a Microsoft 365 license are permitted to install the Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, OneDrive, etc.) on home computers, tablets, and smartphones, and use those devices to access County data.

These instructions will help you install Office apps on your mobile devices, whether you’re using current-generation Android, iPhone, or iPad devices.

Note

Never store County documents or data on personal devices; store them in your County OneDrive account or on County network drives

Install Office on Android, iPhone, iPad

  1. On your mobile device, go to your app store and search for and download the Microsoft Office apps you would like to install on your device

    1. On Android devices, you can find all of Microsoft’s mobile apps on the Google Play store

    2. .On iPhones and iPads, you can find all of Microsoft’s mobile apps on the App Store

  2. Once downloaded, tap your preferred mobile app’s icon to get started.

    1. On the first Microsoft mobile app you launch, you’ll be asked to login to Office 365 with your County email address and network password.

    2. If you are off the County network, you may have to authenticate your login with PingID.

    3. Your login is then shared from the first Office app to the others – you should not have to login for each one.

  3. Additional apps you launch on your mobile device should share your login across the apps (no need to repeatedly login)

  4. That’s it! You can now view, edit, and share your Office documents and email anywhere you go.

Additional Notes

  • Your Office 365 app licenses will be terminated at termination of employment

  • The County collects data on all documents created, edited, or saved in Office 365, especially if those documents contain sensitive information

  • While you can use Office 365 apps to create or edit personal documents on your personal devices, never store personal documents on County systems
