Recover or Delete Notes in OneNote

Introduction

Any notes that were deleted during the past 60 days should appear in the Notebook Recycle Bin, unless the Notebook Recycle Bin was emptied during that time.

Recover deleted notes

To restore a notebook section or page:

  1. Click the “History” Tab in your OneNote App

  2. Click on “Notebook Recycle Bin

  3. Right click the page you want to restore and click “Move or Copy

  4. Select where to move the page and then select “Move

Notebooks automatically delete items within the recycle bin after 60 days, so you may not be able to retrieve deleted items in a notebook recycle bin from long ago.

Permanently delete notes

To permanently Delete all notebook sections or pages:

  1. Click the “History” Tab in your OneNote App

  2. Click on “Notebook Recycle Bin

  3. Select “Empty Recycle Bin

  4. Select “Delete” on the dialogue box that pops up.

You should always look through notebooks and restore any that you may need before permanently deleting your recycle bin.
